Our 5th Anniversary: A Reflection

This Month We Celebrate Our 5th Business Anniversary!

I’ve always enjoyed inspiring and empowering others to make changes, and becoming a hypnotist has allowed me to help people even more.

  1. A woman came to see me last year that had a frustrating habit of picking her skin. In just a few short weeks, she found a new way to deal with her stress and was able to eliminate her habit.
  2. There was a man who was an avid sailor for most of his life, and suddenly without any apparent reason, became fearful to get on his boat. When he was aboard, the stress and anxiety cut short every journey. By using hypnosis, he found new ways to deal with his fear, and once again found himself enjoying his passion and loving being out on the water again.
  3. I recently finished helping a man in his late 20’s who suffered from erectile dysfunction. He found that this performance anxiety had also caused so many problems in other areas of his life. Hypnosis helped him to regain his self-confidence to the point that he rekindled love with his partner, got engaged, and also has now begun the journey of finding a new job!
  4. The last story I wanted to share is about a pre-teen who is a gifted competitive hockey player, who started losing his edge after a coach dealt harshly with him. As his parent told me, “He can skate like the wind, and outplay and out-maneuver most on the ice, but he’s now lost his confidence.” Within a very short time with hypnosis, he was able to get back to his former-self while in the game. In addition, his parent commented on his increased focus on responsibilities at home, and also how his grades started to improve!

The common thread with these examples is that the clients all wanted to get help for themselves, and took the steps to do the same. Fantastic!

Inner Selves vs Outer Appearance

It amazes me how so many people will spend so much time and money investing in their outer appearance, but won’t spend a lot working on their inner selves, and their relationships. Almost all of us would find benefit in investing in our emotional well-being, and therefore, in turn, our relationships would most certainly improve. If you take care of yourself first, you are then in a better place to be a better partner.

Fear Of Change

Why Change Is Difficult For Many

Change is one of the toughest things for most people to go through, and yet we often have challenges accepting that it is we who control our own changes and our attitude towards it. As a simple example, although I haven’t had cable television in my house for the past 2 years, I do remember the frustration that my friends and I used to go through when the cable company periodically rearranged their channel line-up. It was a few weeks of confusion and complaining, re-learning what you had already memorized to ensure you found your favorite show. The most amazing part to me was that within about a month the complaining stopped, the new channels were committed to memory and the problem just seemed to dissolve away. Or better yet, the new change just magically became a regular part of life.

Whether it is the loss of a loved one, a job change, the prospect of a new relationship, quitting of a habit, or a change in circumstances—humans generally don’t like change. However, as a species, we have an amazing ability to simply/eventually adapt to that change, such that it then becomes a regular part of our daily routine. This includes the instances where we don’t have a choice, and the change is almost forced upon us.

That being said, there are many changes we, in fact, choose to make for ourselves and if we can let go of our fear, anything is possible.

Breaking Habits & Managing Stress

I’ve had clients who want to stop smoking but are almost afraid to do so because cigarettes have been the “friend” that they’ve had through thick and thin for so many years. The thought of quitting smoking is something they want to do for their health and to save money, but that fear of change can also be quite daunting. Those who want to lose weight often have a history of using food to “comfort” them in times of trouble, and the thought of not having that crutch can scare them.

I’ve also had many clients who are dealing with stress and self-confidence issues. They sometimes aren’t even aware that when they are in those states, they actually enable others to give them attention. The fear—even on an unconscious level—of no longer receiving that attention once they feel better and rely on themselves, can be scary for them. Of course, all of these and many countless more goals can be achieved, but letting go of the FEAR of change is always the first step.

Hypnosis For Public Speaking

Public Speaking Is Very Common

The above is a very funny quote, but unfortunately the fear of speaking in public is more common that you may think. It is estimated that around 75% of people experience some form of anxiety when they speak in public. Often the real trouble starts hours, days and even weeks before the actual event. This leads to a feeling of fear that can become so strong, that one may even withdraw from doing the actual speech.

Hypnosis is real. However it is not what you’ve seen on TV and in the movies. There is no “mind control” or anything absurd like that. As a hypnotist, I cannot make you quack like a duck, reveal secrets, give me your money, or do anything against your will. While you are hypnotized, you have a higher level of concentration and focus on your inner thoughts. You will only do and say what you want to do and say.

Something Different & Achieve The Desire You Want

What a powerful quote. It reminds me of the risk that someone has to take to get something that they want. I believe that fortune favors the brave, and if you don’t put yourself out there, you will never have a chance to achieve your goals.

Your objective can be in the form of business (switching jobs, or starting your own company), relationships (e.g. summoning the courage to ask someone on a date), or a personal goal (living a healthier lifestyle for instance). No matter what it is, you often will need to take a chance in order to get something you want.

I’m a firm believer in how “opposites” exist everywhere around us, and that we cannot know something about one thing without knowing about the other. Examples are that we cannot know “happiness” if we don’t know what “sadness” is…we cannot define “up” without first knowing what “down” is…we cannot describe what salty tastes like if we’ve never tasted something sweet…And by the same token, the quote above really becomes more clear:

  • Take a risk, do something you’ve never done, and then you can feel what it is like to have something that you have never experienced before.

A New Year

It’s that time of year again. The holiday season is over, and for most it is now time to return to the daily grind of our work and “regular” lives. However also at this time, there is an almost ritualistic process that takes place with people around the world…and that is the declaration of their “New Year’s Resolution(s)”. The most common of these commitments seem to be weight loss and stopping smoking, but they can also take such forms as a desire to quit a habit, motivating yourself to be more stress free, looking for that new job, building self-confidence, etc.

The Problem With Resolutions

The problem with most resolutions can be found in the quote above; many people are so busy trying to make changes from the outside-in, when in fact the true secret to attaining your goals, is to first make the change from the inside-out. Relying only on outside forces to attain our goals instead of first making changes from within can often make for disappointing results when we fail. How great would it be if there was a technique to help us make a mindset change so that we re-educate our thought process, allowing us to better use tools at our disposal to help us get what we want? The good news is that hypnosis can help!

While I teach all my clients about hypnosis and what a fantastic tool it is in helping to achieve results, what I really focus on is showing them how to make changes from within. FORMING GOOD HABITS

We all have habits that we would like to break. These can range from nail biting, teeth grinding, knuckle cracking, skin picking, swearing, overeating, smoking, etc. These bad behavior patterns can develop unconsciously, and then seemingly infiltrate all areas of our lives, eventually driving us crazy with each tick, chew, or smoke.

The question many ask is how do you form good habits? The first step is to break the bad habit. The challenge that many encounter when trying to do this is the simple fact that habits just don’t respond to commands. You cannot take a deep breath, gather all of your willpower, and say to yourself, for example, “I will not bite my nails any longer!”, and then expect to stop. I mean, you may stop temporarily, but in a short time, chances are you will find that you’ve started doing the bad habit again.

So what to do?

My clients have found that hypnosis very effective in helping to break past unwanted behaviors, and to start forming good habits. By using hypnosis, we get right to the crux of the negative habit, which is in the unconscious mind. Of course you do need to have willpower to help motivate you to deal with your unwanted behaviors, but what is really required is a “mindset change” to be finished with the habits. Overcoming The Fear Of Starting a Business Or Career Change

I have many clients looking for help to make a change in their life. Quite often this change is related to their career. Whether your monthly bills and expenses are high or low, the prospect of changing jobs, or in some cases starting your own business can be very daunting. It can be downright scary leaving your secure job for new pastures, or in some cases starting your own business from scratch.
