FORMING GOOD HABITS

“Breaking old habits and forming new ones always takes time, but it is WORTH it in the end.”  – Joyce Meyer

We all have habits that we would like to break. These can range from nail biting, teeth grinding, knuckle cracking, skin picking, swearing, overeating, smoking, etc. These bad behavior patterns can develop unconsciously, and then seemingly infiltrate all areas of our lives, eventually driving us crazy with each tick, chew, or smoke.

The question many ask is how do you form good habits? The first step is to break the bad habit. The challenge that many encounter when trying to do this is the simple fact that habits just don’t respond to commands. You cannot take a deep breath, gather all of your willpower, and say to yourself, for example, “I will not bite my nails any longer!”, and then expect to stop. I mean, you may stop temporarily, but in a short time, chances are you will find that you’ve started doing the bad habit again.

So what to do?

My clients have found that hypnosis very effective in helping to break past unwanted behaviors, and to start forming good habits. By using hypnosis, we get right to the crux of the negative habit, which is in the unconscious mind. Of course you do need to have willpower to help motivate you to deal with your unwanted behaviors, but what is really required is a “mindset change” to be finished with the habits. Hypnosis helps with this, and yes if you are ready, then it truly works!

I offer a free screening to see if hypnosis will work for you! If you would like more information about any of our programs including getting rid of your bad habits and forming good ones, please contact us to book your free screening at (647) 210-8842

Overcoming The Fear Of Starting a Business Or Career Change

I have many clients looking for help to make a change in their life. Quite often this change is related to their career. Whether your monthly bills and expenses are high or low, the prospect of changing jobs, or in some cases starting your own business can be very daunting. The resulting fear that accompanies this can be overwhelming.

It can be downright scary leaving your secure job for new pastures, or in some cases starting your own business from scratch.

  • What if I don’t make enough money?
  • What if I don’t like it?
  • What if I fail?

These “what if’s” can often hold us back and the fear takes over.

Imagine if we were able to eliminate fear from our lives? The possibilities would be endless.

For instance, just charging forward in your search for a new job or opening up that business you’ve always wanted, without worry of what will happen. If you did this, you would then be living “in the moment” and be open to the possibilities of what could be, without fear. You would be going with the flow. Sounds good, right?

As amazing as that sounds, it is easier said than done for many people. Often we first have to learn to let go, and erase any feelings of self-doubt. The next steps are moving forward and working on negative thought patterns by replacing them with positive ones, and this also enables you to boost your self-confidence to help you to attain your goals.

Hypnosis can help you overcome many fears, and make the stress of transition in your life easier to handle.

We offer a free screening to see if hypnosis is right for you. If you would like more information about any of our programs including helping your to get over your fear of changing your job or embarking on a new business venture, please contact us to book your free screening at (647) 210-8842.

Practicing Self-Care

“I see my body as an instrument, rather than an ornament.” – Alanis Morissette

It All Starts With You

Everything in your life starts with you. I have many clients who come to the Greater Toronto Hypnosis Centre office, because they are in need of fixing something about themselves. Whether they are trying to quit smoking, lose weight, increase their confidence, reduce stress, or get over some fear or performance anxiety, I explain to them that it all starts with YOU first. If you do not prioritize self-care and attention to yourself, then how can you possibly have enough resources to give to someone else (your kids, your job, your spouse, etc.)?

You Are A Priority

The idea of practicing self-care is not a new one…but it is one that not many consider as important as other things. Taking care of yourself must be a priority.  The analogy I use finds its roots from being a passenger on an airplane. Before the plane takes off, the flight attendants always go through the safety information. Included in this are the instructions that if there is a cabin air decompression, an oxygen mask drops down from above your head. They explain that you are to take the mask and put it on, and breathe normally. However the direction that many people miss is that if you are sitting beside a child or someone elderly, you are to put on your oxygen mask FIRST and then help them with theirs. The reason is that if you collapse from lack of oxygen, then you’re certainly no good to your companion to assist them in breathing. I find this example to be an ideal illustration of how you must practice self-care, and in life, put on your “oxygen mask” first before helping or doing for others. If you don’t take care of yourself and get sick because you’re working so hard for your company, then how are you to continue your job?

So the concept of self-care is one I talk to my clients about a lot. I explain that while taking care of others is important, they must prioritize THEMSELVES first. Take the time to be good to your mind, body and spirit, and then you can work on the issue that you’re trying to fix. If one of these self-care items involves kicking a habit, losing weight, getting rid of stress, etc., then hypnosis might be a perfect tool to help you do this.

Empowerment To Take Control of Your Life

As we approach the end of the year, we begin to reflect as our thoughts turn to many things, including changes that we can make in our lives. We all have our own strengths, weaknesses, and goals.

Before we can take control of our lives, understand that we learn the best when times are bad, not when times are good.

The first step that must be taken before you make a change, is the belief that you deserve the best, are able to take control of your destiny and know what you want. For many, this means standing in your own power, and centering yourself.

As a hypnotist, it is my job to guide my clients and inspire them to take control. My clients who are successful achieving their goals with the help of hypnosis, are the ones who empower themselves to truly take control of their lives. They have learned to put out positive self-talk and self-worth. They use words like “I will do” and “I can do”. Most importantly, they build more confidence as they move forward because of their empowerment.

If you believe you deserve it, then you will find a way to do it—it’s truly amazing—and hypnosis is an amazing way to help facilitate changes in your life!

So are you ready to empower yourself to take control of your life?

If you are, and you would like to see if hypnosis is right for you, please call us now for your free consultation: (647) 210-8842.

What Do You Wish To Achieve And How Hypnosis Can Help

Start small, get the ball rolling, and just move forward to achieve the goal that you want.

Question: Do you know what the best thing about procrastination is?

Answer:  It always gives you something to do tomorrow.

Goals

We all have them. Some are big. Some are small. Some are short-term Some are long-term.

Often we feel that we are just coasting along with life, never really accomplishing what we want. We procrastinate, and don’t reach our full potential. The most amazing part is that while many will tell you what they don’t want in their life, they rarely can properly articulate what they DO want. If you keep focusing on what you don’t want, you actually will end up heading in that direction and attracting the negative energy.

As a driving instructor taught me about winter driving:  “If you’re in a skid, stop looking where you don’t want to go (i.e. the rapidly approaching snow bank). Instead keep looking to where you WANT to go, and steer in that direction.”

So the first thing to do when you want to achieve something is figure out what you really want. Make sure that your goals are realistic. If you try to set a goal that you know deep down is hopelessly not achievable, you will set yourself up for failure and disappointment. This could cause you undue stress and anxiety.

Try instead to aim for smaller and realistic goals such as:

-deciding to eat healthy snacks instead of junk.

-finding the time take a brisk 20 minute walk every 2 days.

-starting the search for a new job that will bring you more satisfaction.

-committing to spending more time each week with your family.

If you would like to make some changes to help you get what you want and achieve your goals, it is important to prepare and as well make plans for what you want. The idea is that you want to start small, get the ball rolling, and just move forward to achieve the goal that you want.

You have made the decision to go for your goal

Congratulations on taking a step that many never will, because they often aren’t ready to make choices to create change in their lives. After you’ve made the decision that you want to do something, hypnosis is a great way to help you achieve your goal. I’ve had many clients who have been successful at doing this.

Goal setting with hypnosis

The action of setting a goal is a very meaningful and powerful process towards your development and to help you evolve. Hypnosis allows you to get your subconscious engaged and in-sync with your conscious goals. By using hypnosis, you can also learn to relax and let go. You can then center yourself, and learn to cut out the “noise”, so that you can expand your imagination and thought process so you can better focus on what you want to achieve.

Positive Mindset

I am in charge of how I feel and today I choose happiness.” ~ Likainen Parketti

I really love this quote for many reasons; there is so much truth to it. One topic that I talk about in my speaking engagements is centered on the idea of “attitude”. Do you realize that only thing we truly have control over in our lives, is our attitude? We often get so stressed and feel anxiety over things that we have no influence over. While we cannot control how someone else acts towards us, we can control what we do when that energy gets to us. Will we absorb it? Deflect it? Step out of the way and let it go past us?…Simply put, we have the choice of what to do, how to handle it, and how we want our attitude to be.

It’s been said that when things are going really poorly, or you’re in a bad state, you should take a moment and be grateful for something. I know that can be challenging when things are bad, but finding gratitude in something (it can be as simple as that the sun is shining, or that you got up this morning breathing and alive) can be very beneficial in setting a positive mindset.

Hypnosis can be a very effective way to help get into a positive mindset. Many clients come to see me for stress, confidence and anxiety issues. One of the things I teach them is to change their way of thinking, and to be more mindful of their thoughts so that they approach situations and ideas in a more positive way.

But the one thing that is evident in all cases, is that you have to CHOOSE to have a positive mindset…or at least in the case of a new hypnosis client—choose to be OPEN to the idea of learning how to change your mindset.

Hypnosis can help you change your mindset, so that you can go through life with a more positive attitude. Call now for your free 30-40 minute screening, and see if hypnosis is right for you: (647) 210-8842.

PERFORMANCE ANXIETY

“Performance Anxiety” contributes to both Erectile Dysfunction and Premature Ejaculation

The desire to improve your performance can be about more than just getting better grades, or doing better on the golf course and in the sports arena. Many men suffer from performance issues in the bedroom, and this takes the form of Erectile Dysfunction (ED) and Premature Ejaculation (PE).

Erectile Dysfunction and Premature Ejaculation have multiple causes, both physical and psychological. They are frustrating conditions that affect many men, and may also disturb their sexual partners and relationships. Occasional episodes of ED or PE are normal, but persistent symptoms often require treatment. Whether your issue is physiological or psychological…Hypnosis may be your answer!

“Performance Anxiety” contributes to both ED and PE, and both of these issues may lead to a vicious cycle where anxiety produces dysfunction, and dysfunction causes further anxiety.

For instance, one thing that I find consistent with all of my ED clients, is that if they are not mentally “in the game” while with their partner, then even their prescribed meds won’t help them. However when they learn to relax, go with the flow, and resist overthinking every issue, their ability to perform more successfully increases. They are able to see first-hand how effectively taking control and using hypnosis can help them with the intimate part of their lives.  “In a study published in 2003 in the British Journal of Urology International, hypnotherapy helped to improve the sexual function of men with non-organic impotence at a rate of 80%. Hypnotherapy outperformed both testosterone (60%) and trazodone (67%).” (www.edguidance.com).

With hypnosis, you can learn the following techniques to help with your sexual difficulties:

• Letting go of stress & anxiety, both outside of and within a sexual situation

• Building your inner confidence

• Living in the moment

In addition, by using other hypnosis strategies, we can also help you to lose weight and quit smoking—both major contributing factors to Erectile Dysfunction.

We offer a FREE, no-obligation screening session to see if hypnosis will work for you.  Call us NOW at (647) 210-8842 for your no-cost consultation, and get your sex life back on track!

WHY I CHOSE TO BE A HYPNOTIST

I explain why I studied hypnosis

How It Began

Many people ask me why I chose to become a hypnotist. Well, one of the fundamental reasons is that I have always loved to help people. But more to the point, since I was a teenager, people…just…talk to me. What I mean, is that it’s often been my experience that even people who I barely know, seem to open up and confide in me. In fact, I have been amazed at how many people have asked for my advice – and in most cases followed it since I was a young man.

It naturally seemed like a logical decision to involve myself in a field where I could help people. However what I’ve learned is that if a person isn’t ready for IT, and is not willing to do IT themselves (i.e. not have someone else do it for them), then they will not be successful. The “it” can be a task that needs to be done, a habit they are trying to break, or a goal they are trying to reach, etc.

Why Hypnosis Works

I explain to clients that when you are in the state of hypnosis, you help to teach yourself how to do that certain “it”. When hypnotized, you are better able to respond to suggestions, and therefore can change various behaviors such as quitting smoking, losing weight, reducing stress and improving self-esteem.

Because I like to help people, I learned to be a hypnotist. I opened up my office more than 4 years ago. Since then I’ve been able to help others achieve a wide range of goals. It feels good to help teach people how to gain the tools for success, as well as assist them in getting out of their funks because they are not living their life to the fullest.

Free Screening

Taking on a client without first screening and discussing their issues, will not productive for anyone involved. This is one of the main reasons that I offer a FREE consultation to every client. This is so that I can ensure that they will be a good candidate for hypnosis. The screening process takes approximately 45 minutes. Not only is it informative; the client learns some information about hypnosis, and I get to learn details about them and their issue.

As a hypnotist, I experience great satisfaction helping my clients work through their issues and achieve their goals through the natural, safe and effective method of hypnosis!

HYPNOSIS: A POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH EXERCISE AND FOOD

What a great feeling that we in colder climates experience at this time of year:  sun, no more snow (at least for a few months!) and an increase in temperature. Yes, the summer is just around the corner! One of the biggest things that many want to do now is to get rid of the pounds that they put on during the cold winter months.

Your Goals

Whether you’re trying to get healthier, look and feel better, or just want to fit into that bathing suit at the beach this summer, losing weight can be a long and challenging journey. If you have tried and failed to lose weight in the past, you know how frustrating it can be. It is quite common for people to get into a cycle of dieting, then overeating, and then feeling guilty, and dieting again. This “yo-yo dieting” as it’s known, is not only unhealthy, but makes any long-term weight loss very difficult to sustain. Fad diets, nutritional plans and supplements focus on what you put into your mouth and also how often. However, hypnosis is much different.

How You Feel

Hypnosis changes how you FEEL about what and when you eat. As an example, on a diet you might eat an apple, and be unhappy because you wish you were in fact eating an apple pie. But with hypnosis, you can learn to enjoy the apple and simply not give it another thought. What a strange concept:  living in a world where you’d happily turn down your favourite food for something that is healthier for you! With certain hypnosis techniques it may very well be possible to change your patterns of thinking, and get control over your cravings in a way that doesn’t depress you.

The Unconscious Mind

Using hypnosis, we target the unconscious mind with powerful suggestion techniques and help you to develop a new, positive relationship with exercise and food. The way a weight loss client recently described it was:  “I now look at the donut that I normally would crave and want, and just say, ‘Oh yeah, it’s a donut, but I don’t feel like eating it.’ and then I just walk away and don’t really think about it any more.”

To lose weight and keep it off, you cannot just go on an eight-week purge, or an intense exercise regime, or a fad diet, and then go back to your previous habits. Instead you have to make real lifestyle changes. This is where hypnosis may have a major advantage over other techniques, and the reason is that in order to change your body, you first need to change your mind. The aim with hypnosis techniques is to make you feel confident about yourself and your body, to alter any negative thoughts about eating, and to help you to lose weight in a healthy and responsible way without impacting your emotional well-being.

People are losing weight, quitting smoking, relieving stress and being helped with other issues by using hypnosis.

CONQUERING THE FEAR OF DRIVING

The fear of driving is serious enough to hamper many of their daily activities

I often see clients who have a fear of driving. The stress can vary between someone who gets a bit nervous behind the wheel where the fright is always present, to someone who becomes so paralyzed with fear that they cannot drive at all. In all of these cases, the person is aware that the panic they are feeling is irrational, but they cannot seem to do anything about it.

This fear of driving is one of the most common phobias, and it often really is just the fear of loss of control. People that have this are afraid that they may be stuck in a huge traffic jam and can’t get out if they start panicking. They also are terrified that they might pass out, vomit, lose control of their vehicle, have a panic attack, or get into an accident. They may experience the classic “fight or flight responses” with such symptoms as excessive sweating, dry mouth, heart palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, and disorientation. Obviously these are very unpleasant feelings to have, and most people will just avoid driving so as to avoid experiencing these types of reactions.

As my clients tell me, their fear of driving is serious enough to hamper many of their daily activities. When they come to see me for the initial free screening that I do for every client, they explain that they are tired of relying on friends and family to drive them everywhere. Simple tasks such as food shopping, or going to appointments quickly become very challenging for them.

This fear of driving can take form in a variety of ways. One client has had this difficulty (including a fear of being alone) for much of her adult life. Another client had been driving for close to 50 years before she was involved in her first traffic accident…That was 3 years ago, and she has been unable to drive since; her fear of another accident has been debilitating to her. And in another client’s case, his fear of driving on the highway seemed to come out of nowhere.

In many situations, if the person is already prone to stress and anxieties/fears, driving can be one of the places where this shows up. The problem is that the more you don’t deal with the issue, the worse that it gets, and the harder it becomes to get “back on the bike” so to speak. However do not lose hope! The fear of driving is not a hereditary disease; it is a learned behavior. So to put it another way:  if in your lifetime, you have ever felt comfortable and confident driving, that was something that you learned how to do. And by the same token, if you “learned” how to be uncomfortable driving, then you can simply relearn how to be comfortable driving again!

If you are not driving because of fear, then I recommend you contact us for a free screening to see if hypnosis can work for you and help with your issue. In the meantime it is important to know that even though the fear and anxiety feels really bad, it can be managed. Instead your reaction to these feelings can help make it controllable for you or not. So if you are feeling anxious or fearful, just allow it to be present; don’t fight it. Notice it, and see if you can almost “separate” yourself from the fear to observe the feeling. Breathe deeply, and be aware of being focused on something else like the cars around you, or the music you’re listening to, etc. These are just some things that I work on with my clients to help them.

However if you are still having trouble, you may be able to benefit from hypnosis and the help that it can bring, as it can be very effective to assist you in driving comfortably and with confidence.

If you would like more information about any of our programs including management of your stress and fears, please contact us to book your free screening at (647) 210-8842.
