Most people’s understanding of hypnosis is from what they have seen on television and movies. I have a lot of clients who are just uninformed. They are afraid for instance that because of what they’ve seen on the media, that I’m going to make them quack like a duck, they are going to lose control, or they may even get “stuck” in a state of hypnosis. Nothing could be further from the truth. One of the first things I tell clients at the free screening we offer, is to basically take everything they’ve seen regarding hypnosis on TV and movies, and throw it out the window.
Despite what you may have heard, you cannot get stuck in a state of hypnosis. You will not lose control. You cannot be made to do anything that you don’t want to do. “But what about that live show I saw in college,” you may wonder, “when that hypnotist made people do all those crazy things on stage?” The truth is that those people volunteered to go on stage, and were only doing what they were comfortable doing.
