Back to School

Stephen King once said, “The scariest moment is always just before you start.” At the time, he was talking about the art of writing. But his words make sense for many of our other experiences in life.

Take, for example, going back to school. It can be scary, even terrifying. You might be a young person returning to school after the summer break, or a high school graduate about to start at an unfamiliar university.

  • What if you don’t get along with your new classmates or teachers?
  • What if the subjects are too hard for you to manage, or the workload is too heavy?
  • Or what if you can’t get the grades you need to get your dream job?

Like it or not, higher grades often open doors and expand future academic and professional prospects. This competitive environment, coupled with the anxiety of fitting in socially, can place a tremendous amount of pressure on students.

There are similar issues at play if you’re already employed, or running your own business, and you go back to school for an advanced degree or additional training.

  • What if you can’t adjust quickly enough to the very different environment of an academic institution?
  • What if you fail to effectively network with classmates who are more senior than you, or who work in different fields or industries?
  • What if you can’t juggle your academic responsibilities with your obligations at your company or at home?

Whether you’re a younger person or an older returning student, it’s very easy to get tangled up in the what-ifs, and become stuck in the quagmire of negative thinking. Contemplating all the many, different ways things could go wrong can lead to crippling inertia and an unhelpful hesitation to act. Again, going back to school can be scary, but you don’t have to let your fears hold you back.

How Hypnosis Can Help

It’s important to keep in mind that going back to school also means that you’re potentially at the start of many fruitful and fulfilling opportunities. You have the chance to learn new things, expand your professional network, and lay the groundwork for significant career growth. All these and more are yours for the taking if you can move beyond your fears.

But that is, of course, easier said than done. If it was that easy to overcome our negative thoughts, we would all be operating at our full potential. This is where hypnosis comes in, and where I have helped many clients over the years.

Instead of focusing on and being overwhelmed by a hypothetical future full of anxiety-inducing possibilities, hypnosis will allow you to move away from these negative thoughts, and ground your thinking in the here and now. By living in the moment, you can think, move and act decisively and effectively.

Anxiety will fade away, to be replaced by a feeling of balance and confidence in your abilities. You’ll be able to fully enjoy the experience of going to school, and take advantage of the opportunities that are presented to you.

If you’re going back to school and you’d like to avail of hypnosis to help with this transition, please do get in touch with us today!

I offer a free screening to every client to see whether hypnosis is going to work for them, and also if they are ready for hypnosis.

Hypnosis can help you take control of your own life and help you to build your self-confidence and achieve your goals! Call now for your free 30-40 minute screening, and see if hypnosis is right for you:  ((647) 210-8842

Overcoming Anxiety In Social Settings

“There was a whole magnificent soul burning brightly behind her shy.” – Atticus

Summer is here. Many people have been looking forward to the warmer weather, and all the amazing activities and fun that can be had—unencumbered by winter jackets and boots.

The warmer temperatures tend to breed a more social atmosphere, as we gather for parties and fun on patios, backyard barbecues, and social events. However with this often comes a nervousness and fear of being in social situations. People who will often shy away because…well…because they’re shy. This fear also prevents sufferers from doing such things as speaking in business situations or talking to groups of clients.

I remember years ago that my friend’s anxiety was so bad, they were even afraid to order a pizza over the phone. Since fear is a great motivator, it can often push you to do things (or not do things) that you normally wouldn’t—including enjoying the company of other people.

As an example, I had one client who was a brilliant university student and was so nervous to hang out with his friends after school. In fact, before coming to see me, he was too shy to even stand up during the lectures and ask a question. We were able to use hypnosis to help him imagine himself in these situations, but with a more positive outcome than the paralyzing fear he usually experienced. By doing this, he would create a “blueprint” for how he wanted the situation to be in his imagination. He could use that as an anchor for how things would be when he was actually there in real life. By doing this numerous times, he could change his mindset of how he wanted things to be for himself.

So hypnosis can help you with weight loss, quitting smoking, reducing stress, and improving self-confidence—and it is also an amazing tool to help you overcome apprehension and jitters when in social situations.

I offer a free screening to every client to assess whether hypnosis is going to work for them, and also if they are ready for hypnosis.

Hypnosis For Pain Management

“Don’t fight your pain; you can’t win. The paradox of recovery is that you have to surrender to win. Accepting what you cannot change makes the difference.” – Adapted from Pain Recovery:  How to Find Balance and Reduce Suffering from Chronic Pain

Hypnosis is a very effective tool that can help with the management of pain. Hypnosis doesn’t make the pain go away. Rather you learn techniques to help you deal better with the pain, and reduce the stress associated with it.

As a client once told me regarding her pain in her leg:  “I know that the pain is still there, but I just don’t think about it that much any longer. I used to think about it 24/7 and it was all that was on my mind.”

Pain And Your Mindset

If you are always thinking to yourself, “I cannot do anything about my pain!” then it will constantly be on your mind. You will never be able to dissociate with it. One of the things that hypnosis for pain management can do, is to help you to change thinking patterns that make your pain feel worse. How incredible would it be if you knew the pain was there, but you learned techniques through hypnosis to help you change your mindset so you could focus on other things!

According to a July 2, 2014 article from the American Psychological Association:  “A meta-analysis (a study of studies) in 2000 of 18 published studies by psychologists Guy Montgomery, PhD, Katherine DuHamel, PhD, and William Redd, PhD, showed that 75% of clinical and experimental participants with different types of pain obtained substantial pain relief from hypnotic techniques.”

Consult With A Physician

Before using hypnosis for pain management, you want to ensure first that the pain isn’t being caused by something that requires medical attention. In fact, if a client wants to see me for pain management hypnosis, it is my policy that I will send a letter to their doctor to make them aware that the client is using hypnosis to help them with a pain. Hypnosis can help to manage the pain, and after a short time, essentially help you to “forget” about the pain and concentrate on other things in your life.

There could be huge implications if the headaches were caused by something far more serious (a tumor, circulation issues, etc.) that required medical intervention, and you ignored them! So it is very important that you first consult with a physician regarding any pain before starting hypnosis.

If you are interested in seeing how hypnosis can help you manage your pain (or lose weight, quit smoking, gain confidence, or deal with stress), please give me a call. I offer a free screening to every client to determine whether hypnosis is going to work for them, and also if they are ready for hypnosis.

The Importance Of Enough Sleep

“I think if you have a good night’s sleep, you can take on the world.” – Tamsin Egerton

Why Sleep Is Important

Getting a good night’s sleep always makes you feel better. What a lot of people don’t realize is that the importance of sleep is not just about putting you in a better mood, or getting rid of those dark circles under the eyes. Getting adequate sleep is a significant part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and among other things, it can also benefit your mind, your heart, and even your weight.

Ever wondered why your children are sometimes misbehaving? While other factors may be at play, a big contributing reason may simply be that they are not getting enough sleep. According to a Reuters Health article from March 16, 2017, lead author, Dr. Elise Taveras told the publication: “Children who aren’t getting the recommended amount of sleep have more difficulties with attention, with emotional control, with reasoning, with problem-solving, and also have behavioral problems.” What is also important to remember is that adults need their sleep just as much as kids do.

Sleep Can Affect Weight

Regarding your weight, the same areas of your brain control sleep and your metabolism. In a March 4, 2018 story on Health.com, University of Chicago researchers noticed that people trying to lose weight lost similar amounts of total weight regardless of how much sleep they were getting. However they found that:  “…dieters who were well rested lost more fat—56% of their weight loss—than those who were sleep deprived, who lost more muscle mass. Dieters in the study also felt more hungry when they got less sleep…When you are sleepy, certain hormones go up in your blood, and those same hormones drive appetite.” This is significant evidence to make sure you’re getting enough sleep if you’re trying to lose weight, and it’s one of the things I stress with my weight loss hypnosis clients.

When you aren’t getting the right amount of slumber, you can become careless at work, grumpy in your relationship, your health can decline, and overall you just don’t feel right.

How Hypnosis Can Treat Sleep Disorders

While there may be other health issues at play, one of the biggest factors for ensuring a restful sleep, is simply reducing the stress and fears in your life. Using hypnosis, I help clients learn to relax, thereby enabling them to let go of the “things on their mind” so that they can have a better night’s sleep. The incredible changes clients notice when they are going with the flow and relaxing are evident in many areas of their lives—but most notably when they sleep.

Improving your sleep is just one of the many issues with which hypnosis can help. And whether you are looking to stop smoking, build your confidence, fix a performance anxiety, or lose weight, hypnosis is an incredible tool to assist you in reaching your goals. It’s safe, painless, relaxing, and a lot of fun!

I offer a free consultation screening to every client to assess whether hypnosis is going to work for them, and also if they are ready for hypnosis.

Weight Loss For Men

We just had our final blast of winter only weeks ago, and most of us now look forward to warmer weather and a fun and eventful summer. The goal that many have at this time of year is to shed the winter weight.

What surprises a lot of people is that it is not just women, but also men who want to ensure they look good in their bathing attire. Weight loss hypnosis can be very effective in helping you to lose your weight and get healthy.

Men Struggle With Weight Too

Men can be just as frustrated with their weight issues as women can. Many have tried and failed to lose the weight in the past. This cycle of dieting, then overeating and then feeling guilty, and dieting again is very common. It is unhealthy, and the up-and-down pattern makes any long-term weight loss almost impossible to sustain. Fad diets, nutritional plans, and supplements focus on what you put into your mouth and also how often. However, hypnosis is much different.

With hypnosis, the focus is on making the change from within you.  Hypnosis can help you keep motivated, and ensure that you are focused on your goal. To lose weight and keep it off, you have to make real lifestyle changes. This is where hypnosis may have a major advantage over other techniques because, in order to change your body, you first need to change your mind. We use hypnosis techniques to make you feel:

  • confident about yourself and your body
  • to alter any negative thoughts about eating
  • to help you to lose weight in a healthy and responsible way without impacting your emotional well-being

The same weight loss hypnosis techniques used to help women are also applied to my male clients, however, there may be some tweaking or alterations to ensure that they are successful as well with their goals.

I offer a free hypnosis screening to every client (male and female!) to assess whether hypnosis is going to work for them, and also if they are ready for hypnosis. This month we are celebrating our 5th Anniversary, and we have a sale on right now! You can get $100.00 off any hypnosis program you sign up for. Just be sure to mention the code:  “HAPPY5TH” when booking to take advantage of the offer.

People are losing weight, quitting smoking, relieving stress and being helped with other issues by using hypnosis. Hypnosis can help you take control of your own life and help you achieve your goals!

Our 5th Anniversary: A Reflection

This Month We Celebrate Our 5th Business Anniversary!

I’ve always enjoyed inspiring and empowering others to make changes, and becoming a hypnotist has allowed me to help people even more.

Whether you want to lose weight, stop smoking, reduce stress, improve your confidence, or get over performance anxiety, it all starts with a desire to help yourself. Once you realize that it starts with YOU, and you make the decision that you want to start the change, your chances for success increase dramatically—no matter which modality of help you utilize.

Over these first 5 years, I’ve had some very interesting clients (with issues beyond the more common ones named above):

  1. A woman came to see me last year that had a frustrating habit of picking her skin. In just a few short weeks, she found a new way to deal with her stress and was able to eliminate her habit.
  2. There was a man who was an avid sailor for most of his life, and suddenly without any apparent reason, became fearful to get on his boat. When he was aboard, the stress and anxiety cut short every journey. By using hypnosis, he found new ways to deal with his fear, and once again found himself enjoying his passion and loving being out on the water again.
  3. I recently finished helping a man in his late 20’s who suffered from erectile dysfunction. He found that this performance anxiety had also caused so many problems in other areas of his life. Hypnosis helped him to regain his self-confidence to the point that he rekindled love with his partner, got engaged, and also has now begun the journey of finding a new job!
  4. The last story I wanted to share is about a pre-teen who is a gifted competitive hockey player, who started losing his edge after a coach dealt harshly with him. As his parent told me, “He can skate like the wind, and outplay and out-maneuver most on the ice, but he’s now lost his confidence.” Within a very short time with hypnosis, he was able to get back to his former-self while in the game. In addition, his parent commented on his increased focus on responsibilities at home, and also how his grades started to improve!

The common thread with these examples is that the clients all wanted to get help for themselves, and took the steps to do the same. Fantastic!

Our Clients Are #1

Even though I have just a few instances, of course, ALL of my clients are valuable and special to me. May 28th will be my 5th year anniversary, and my business is growing more each year. I’m happy to say that I actually learn more about life and hypnosis from each client that comes to work on their issues. The experience with each gives me even more tools to add to my resources that I can in turn use to help the next person.

From the very first person who came to me for help, to my most recent clients, I am grateful for their business and proud of all of them for taking the steps and having the courage and persistence to seek help for their issues.

I offer a free hypnosis screening to every client to assess whether hypnosis is going to work for them, and also if they are ready for hypnosis.

In addition, we have an incredible Anniversary Sale on right now! You can get $100.00 off any hypnosis program you sign up for. Just be sure to mention the code:  “HAPPY5TH” when booking to take advantage of the offer.

Hypnosis For Relationship Issues

“Investing in your own growth and self-development isn’t selfish, it’s self-care.”

Inner Selves vs Outer Appearance

It amazes me how so many people will spend so much time and money investing in their outer appearance, but won’t spend a lot working on their inner selves, and their relationships. Almost all of us would find benefit in investing in our emotional well-being, and therefore, in turn, our relationships would most certainly improve. If you take care of yourself first, you are then in a better place to be a better partner.

With hypnosis, I help people work on themselves for a variety of issues. We often have things in our lives that get in the way. Smoking or excessive weight gain, for instance, can be a major problem that can affect your relationship, as many complain that their partners are not happy with the smell/look of them, etc.  More to the point, when we are not satisfied with ourselves and have stress, it can affect our relationships.

How Hypnosis Helps

Using hypnosis to help with your relationships is not like what you see in the movies or on television. I’m not going to put you in a “trance” and you can suddenly be the next Romeo or anything like that. Rather, many of my clients who come to see me for relationship issues, do so because they are stuck in a bad relationship, or are having trouble building a new one. It’s often easier to find faults in others, then to be introspective. While their partner may be part of the issue, some clients don’t often realize that a large part of the problem is within them. We become stuck.

Why suffer from the stress and anxiety associated with a bad relationship?

Invest in yourself. Learn to let go, develop techniques to help establish boundaries, and improve your overall health of relating. A healthy relationship starts with you. Hypnosis can be an incredible way to improve in so many areas of your life and help you to learn to take any negative thoughts and reframe them into positive ones.

I offer a free screening to every client to determine whether hypnosis is going to work for them, and also if they are ready for hypnosis. Plus I have an amazing sale on right now! You can get $100.00 off any hypnosis program you sign up for. Just be sure to mention the code:  “ITSPOSSIBLE2018” when booking to take advantage of the offer.

Fear Of Change

“Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.” – Carol Burnett

Why Change Is Difficult For Many

Change is one of the toughest things for most people to go through, and yet we often have challenges accepting that it is we who control our own changes and our attitude towards it. As a simple example, although I haven’t had cable television in my house for the past 2 years, I do remember the frustration that my friends and I used to go through when the cable company periodically rearranged their channel line-up. It was a few weeks of confusion and complaining, re-learning what you had already memorized to ensure you found your favorite show. The most amazing part to me was that within about a month the complaining stopped, the new channels were committed to memory and the problem just seemed to dissolve away. Or better yet, the new change just magically became a regular part of life.

Whether it is the loss of a loved one, a job change, the prospect of a new relationship, quitting of a habit, or a change in circumstances—humans generally don’t like change. However, as a species, we have an amazing ability to simply/eventually adapt to that change, such that it then becomes a regular part of our daily routine. This includes the instances where we don’t have a choice, and the change is almost forced upon us.

That being said, there are many changes we, in fact, choose to make for ourselves and if we can let go of our fear, anything is possible.

Breaking Habits & Managing Stress

I’ve had clients who want to stop smoking but are almost afraid to do so because cigarettes have been the “friend” that they’ve had through thick and thin for so many years. The thought of quitting smoking is something they want to do for their health and to save money, but that fear of change can also be quite daunting. Those who want to lose weight often have a history of using food to “comfort” them in times of trouble, and the thought of not having that crutch can scare them.

I’ve also had many clients who are dealing with stress and self-confidence issues. They sometimes aren’t even aware that when they are in those states, they actually enable others to give them attention. The fear—even on an unconscious level—of no longer receiving that attention once they feel better and rely on themselves, can be scary for them. Of course, all of these and many countless more goals can be achieved, but letting go of the FEAR of change is always the first step.

How Hypnosis Helps

You can be in control of making desired changes in your life, and hypnosis is an amazing way to do this! Hypnosis is painless, drug-free, and also a lot of fun. With hypnosis, one of the first steps we do is learn how to relax, be in the moment, and let go of our fear of change. I teach clients how to embrace the change, not be afraid of it, and give them tools to help them cope better with their transformation.

Stephen King said, “You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will.”  So if you’re ready to make a positive change for yourself, I offer a free screening to every client to determine whether hypnosis is going to work for them. Plus our amazing promotion continues on right now!
