Can You Be Hypnotized to Quit Smoking?

In earlier posts, we’ve been discussing how hypnosis works and how it can be applied in areas such as procrastination, weight loss, and new year’s resolutions.

In this article, I’d like to talk specifically about how I help people quit smoking with hypnosis.

How does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is not a magic pill, but it can be a powerful tool for self-improvement and positive change.

We’ve explored how hypnosis works by rephrasing your internal dialogue, creating a positive mindset that can help you achieve your goals. Another way to understand the process, is that hypnosis taps into the power of your subconscious mind, planting positive and empowering messages, which in-turn instill self-confidence. Ultimately, this can help you control your conscious thoughts and choices.

I’ve had clients tell me that hypnosis helped them “rewire” their brain and process things differently. For example, situations that used to be processed negatively and caused stress, could now be handled in a positive way with hypnosis.

Hypnosis works by:

  • Tapping into the power of your subconscious mind
  • Rephrasing your internal dialogue
  • Rewiring the brain
  • Inspiring change from the inside out

In this way, hypnosis can help people overcome all kinds of problems, from obesity to chain-smoking, in a way that is safe, natural, pain-free, and relaxing.

An Example of Quitting Smoking With Hypnosis

One of our clients at the Greater Toronto Hypnosis Centre, is an elderly woman who had been smoking since the age of 12. She was finally able to kick the habit with hypnosis, but after quitting, she still had cravings. Every smoker knows what that’s like, and how impossible it can be to say no to them—no matter how resolved you are to quit.

Here is what hypnosis did for her:  For the first time in her life, it made the cravings manageable. They didn’t disappear, but hypnosis gave her to power she needed to control them. What an incredible difference it made in her life!

Of course, hypnosis impacts everyone differently. Other clients who have come to see me to stop smoking have said that their cravings disappeared after their first hypnosis session.

5 Steps to Take Control of Your Life

The new year has begun, and you found the motivation to make some big changes and build good habits in the new year.

But now with February in full swing, you may have already started losing momentum on achieving your goals. Maybe you promised yourself you’d stop late-night snacking, or you would quit smoking. Perhaps you decided to start that ambitious project you’d been putting off for ages…But no matter how hard you’ve tried, you give in to the urges even though you know how bad they are for you, and you stop making the effort because you’re afraid you’ll end up failing.

If these scenarios sound familiar and you’ve been struggling to take control of your life, hypnosis could be just the thing to help you accomplish your goals. Let this simple guide help you get back in the driver’s seat:

1. Embrace Your Self

The key to succeeding at anything, is that you need to accept and believe in yourself. Check out these 5 positive affirmations in one of our previous articles, that can help you do just that.

By thinking positively about yourself, you’ll be in just the right position to start on the road to success.

2. Stop Self-Sabotage

Self-destructive habits such as smoking, excessive drinking, or eating poorly, can often seem almost impossible to overcome. You know it’s wrong, you know how it affects your long-term health and wellbeing, yet you can’t say “no” to it.

Once you have started to love and accept yourself and your body, you need to start taking better care of it.

Stop the self-sabotage! If you need help to quit smoking, explore how hypnosis can help. You can also benefit from hypnosis for overeating.

3. Look Ahead

Stop for a moment and think about what you would like your life to look like five years from now. Pull out a piece of paper and start writing down who you want to be, how you want to be living your life, and what you want to be surrounded by.

Use this picture to understand what really matters to you, and what doesn’t, so you can rethink your current routine.

4. Rethink Your Routines

Think about all the things that eat up your time during the day. How many of them are helping you achieve the picture you’ve just painted for your future? How are all the big and little things that you spend time on, helping you achieve what really matters to you?

Perhaps you spend a lot of time staying tidy and organized, when in the long run this isn’t something you value as much as, for instance, having good relationships with your family and friends. Maybe you should start spending less time tidying up, and more time investing in the people who matter to you.

Regardless of your choices, taking control of how you spend your time now, can help you regain control of your life and future.

5. Hold On To Your Gains With Hypnosis

Simply taking these initial steps won’t be enough. You have to hold on to the progress you have made by maintaining the right attitudes and habits.

When clients come to see me for various issues, I am able to show them how effective hypnosis can be to help you reinforce positive ideas and attain your goals. Hypnosis is painless, natural and relaxing, and can be an effective way to reinforce positive ideas.

At Greater Toronto Hypnosis Centre, we can guide you through this process. Give us a call today at (647) 210-8842 for your free screening.

Stop Procrastinating―Learn How to Achieve Your Goals Now

“You may delay, but time will not.” – Benjamin Franklin

We are only a few weeks into the New Year but could it be that your resolutions are already losing steam? If so, you are not alone. The unfortunate truth is that most resolutions taper off by the end of January, and by February the majority have failed.

Why are New Year’s resolutions so popular, yet so often unsuccessful? One reason is procrastination.

When the first day of a new year comes around, we have every reason to stop procrastinating and take immediate action. When a new year begins, we have the chance to turn over a new leaf, start fresh, and of course, we want to jump on that opportunity!

However, when the holiday season and exciting start of a brand-new year fade into mundane everyday life, we can be unbelievably quick to fall back into old habits.

And one of the worst habits to fall back into is procrastinating getting things done, working on a new goal, stopping a habit, etc.

1. Overcoming Procrastination with Positive Thinking

If you are a procrastinator, the first step to overcoming this behavior is changing your mindset.

There are many ways that we self-sabotage and procrastination is one of the biggest. Another equally calamitous one is holding onto negative beliefs about ourselves.

This is yet another reason why new year’s resolutions often fail: we don’t believe that we are good enough to succeed. On top of that, we can’t forgive ourselves when we make a mistake. Because of this, we ultimately give up completely.

This is why we need to rephrase our internal dialogue and learn how to adopt a positive mindset―and this is something hypnosis can help you achieve.

2. Making a Plan to Achieve Your Goals

If you have been procrastinating on the big goals you would like to achieve in life, you can still use this time at the start of the new year to make a change, and make things happen. You can use the power of positive thinking to stop sabotaging yourself with procrastination.

January is the first of twelve months you will get this year. Ask yourself one simple question: What do you want to have accomplished by the end of 2019?

Now, let’s talk about how to achieve your goals. Start by breaking it down into milestones such as “what part of your goal can you achieve by the first quarter?”, “how about halfway through the year?”, etc. For instance, if you want to lose 60 pounds this year, you’ll want to drop 15 by the end of March. That means losing just over a pound a week. Setting such highly achievable and measurable goals makes success all the more likely.

Next, pull out your calendar and start marking up what should be done when, so you’ll have no more excuses to procrastinate.

3. Finding Success

Ultimately, in order to find success in achieving your goals, you will need to combine having the right mindset with making a solid plan.

Hypnosis can help you rephrase your internal dialogue and adopt a positive mindset so that you can stick with your plan and get your goals.

Why not give hypnosis a try? I offer a free screening to determine whether hypnosis will be right for you. Don’t procrastinate any longer—call (647) 210-8842 right now, and get started on achieving your goal!
