Summer is just around the corner, and at Greater Toronto Hypnosis Centre, we focus on helping our clients make positive changes for themselves, and for ways to better manage stress. So, with that in mind, to help commemorate our 12th Anniversary in May, here are 12 self-care-focused summer tips to help you recharge, reconnect with yourself, and feel good all season long:
1. Prioritize Rest Without Guilt
Let yourself sleep in. Take naps. Or here’s a novel concept: Do nothing sometimes. Resting isn’t being lazy—it’s essential.
2. Create a Summer Self-Care Ritual
Think iced tea + face mask + a book. Or morning walks + affirmations. Or deep breathing + self-hypnosis. Whatever you’d like, and whatever refills your cup…just make it a regular thing.
3. Spend Time in Nature (Go Solo, If You Want)
Take yourself on a walk in the forest, or to the beach, or even just to your backyard. Breathe. Move slowly. Be present.
4. Set Personal Boundaries For Yourself (And Honor Them)
It’s okay to say “no” to plans that drain you. Make space for what truly feels good—not just what’s expected.
5. Protect Your Energy and Skin
Sun protection = self-love, so be sure to wear sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and stay hydrated to help you feel better inside and out.
6. Start a Summer Journal
Change the “state” of your thoughts, worries and dreams; get them out of your head and onto paper. Bonus: write down one thing you’re grateful for each day.
7. Hydrate Like It’s Your Job
Drink more water than you think you need (remember if you feel thirsty, then you’re already dehydrated). Add lemon, mint, or cucumber if plain water bores you.
8. Try a New Mindfulness Practice
Do meditation or self-hypnosis on the grass, breath-work under a tree, or simply lay back and watch the clouds. Just remember, that summer is truly made for slowing down.
9. Make a “Feel-Good” Playlist Just for You
Choose songs that uplift, soothe, motivate, or help you cry when you need it. Let music be part of your healing toolkit.
10. Celebrate Life’s Small Joys
Eat fruit out of a fancy bowl. Wear your favorite perfume or cologne. Bring a book to the park, and make the everyday magical.
11. Limit Doomscrolling
Even cutting out 30 minutes of social media a day can make an enormous difference for your mental space. So, instead replace this new-found time with a mindful moment.
12. Let Go of the “Perfect Summer” Idea
You don’t have to do it all. Remember that slow, calm, nourishing days are just as beautiful and wonderful as packed adventures.
There are so many things we can do to help with our self-care, and to relieve tension. However, if you’re looking for some help, please reach out so we can talk.
